Message from Vickie

“What I heard you say is…” Greater times than not, what  you hear someone say may not be what they said or intended  to say at all. Words are extremely important! Say what you  mean and mean what you say.

Communicating well is not natural, it is learned. Severed  relationships have happened because of me being unclear and  the person that I communicated to was hurt. We can all  relate to this. So, here are some things to consider:

Pause before you speak. Is what you want to say helpful  or hurtful?

Pray to find out if you need to say it. Be sensitive to His  answer.

Ponder on what and how you will say it. Writing it down  and reading it back to yourself could help.

Also, consider if you are still working on your own hurt  feelings. If you are not healed, having a conversation with the person that hurt you could add to your own pain. Wait  until you are spiritually stronger to bring it up. Pray for  healing and a changed heart.

Consider James 1:19 “Know this, my beloved brothers; let  every person be quick to hear; slow to speak, slow to anger.”

Ephesians 4:29 states “Let no corrupting talk come out of  your mouths, but only such as is good for  building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.”

The next time you are having an important  conversation, consider saying, “What I  heard you say is….”

Pray Continually, Vickie

Upcoming Class

Have you ever thought about what you think  about? What do your thoughts reveal about who  you are? Have you ever considered your identity  through the lens of your physical wellness? Have  you pondered the effects that rejection has on  your worth and identity? Has trauma or abuse  impacted the way you define yourself?

If these questions stir something inside of you, consider registering for Temple Care’s upcoming class held on Saturday, April 24th, from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Emily Lindsey, Vickie Anderson, Crystal Hillis, and Falen Tames will present on these questions and invite you to dig a little deeper into your Identity and Value in Christ. This class will be held at 16001 South Western in Oklahoma City.
